H2O, I am thrilled with the news your doctor has given you! Please think positive, "easier said then done" I know. But it is possible. Keep your spirits up, it is worth it.
Your little nano is there to help you as well. As silly as that may sound it is my truth. I've had many battles in this life, (including a bout of cancer), but seeing the beauty that surrounds us keeps me going. Depression don't last long when I look at my animals. Their natural beauty is enough to bring a smile to my face.
The crabs and snails are fine, as a matter of fact they are highly recommended. As for the fish, well I'm not so sure that I would tell you that you can keep the ocellaris clown (nemo)& a watchman goby in a 12 gallon tank. When grown the ocellaris will be around 3 1/2", and a watchman goby could also be another 3" giving you a total of 10" worth of fish. The standard is 2 gallons of salt water for every 1" of fish. This if I recall correctly is for the oxygen the fish will need. You have to think of the oxygen available for the animals you are keeping, not just the amount of waste that they will produce. If it were just the waste being the concern, that wouldn't be so bad as that can be combatted by more water changes. But you won't be able to add oxygen. Which brings me back to the amount of fish. I would say you are pushing it with the two ocellaris clowns as it is, I would not add the goby. But that is just my opinion, perhaps someone else can chime in.
My best wishes, and prayers are with you. Happy reefing buddy.
