What other fish do you have in your tank , and waht size is the tank. I wouldnt say its the banded shrimp. They will usually go for a coral if anything.

6 line can be the bandit you should look at. they can get evil unless you have a pest(crab) hiding in your tank . what size is the tank ?

45 is deff small for the sailfin. and having the 6line in the tank 1st , could def make him territorial towards the tang. I wouldnt be surprised if it killed him off. jmo

though I've had a 6 line live peacefully with a sailfin for over a year it does sound by the list of fish that it would be the 6-line. I would think there may be an unwanted crab or something hiding in that tank that may be the culprit. Good luck with figuring it out.

didnt know you have them in the tank for a while. Did you add any rocks recently , maybe you did get a crab that is doing damage

you can get a crab on a small piece of rock aka frag.

man that blows , sorry to hear that. Did you see any signs of illness on the tang before hand. I wouldnt think that having a dorsal fin bit would killl a fish.
