Default Mexican Red Starfish is eating my Chocolate Chip Starfish

The last few days my Mexican Red Starfish has been actively pursuing and often on top of my Chocolate Chip Starfish, at first I thought their may be some potential hanky panky going on or they were just passing one another..well this morning the Mexican Red had the Chocolate Chip pinned upside down on the sand and has eaten/killed about 2 of the legs tentacles...

I separated them and then moved the Chocolate Chip to my holding tank to recover...is this normal behavior I see multiple types of starfish housed together in tanks all the time?

What can I do to prevent this in the future...I feed the nano tank the two of them are held in together pretty abundantly as it holds two puffers and a Snowflake eel...so I cant help but think they are being fed enough...
