If you really want more color, swap the 50/50's for straight actinics, or better yet, toss the PC's and go for T5's.
Using just one of the 36w T5's out performed the one 96w PC with WAY less heat. The bulb replacement for my T5 is about a third of the PC also. This is an oddbal T5 setup though, I think if it was a normal 39w T5 the bulb replacement would be about the same.
I have only had the T5 for a few months and have not noticed this, but the PC's would lose a lot of output over the 6 month suggested lifespan. Time will tell if the T5's will do the same.
Wobbegong seems to be the resident expert on T5's, although I think he is a wee bit to biased on their use, he would be the man to ask about them if you decide to switch out the PC's

Dave you the MAN!!! I ask a simple question and I get a world of info.I'll have to wait though because I changed the bulbs a couple of months back.I have to check my log to see exactly when. Before I forget to ask, don't you think the 14K along with the straight actinics would be too blue if run for that 6 hour period together

Kathy is out of the picture.
It really does not fit in my smaller tank.
So the Echinata is seriously available. Dave if you still want it, can do the trade. Please let me know.

I was a bit worried about the same thing when I switched over, I really don't think my tank looks too blue at all.
My schedule;
9am rear T5 on
11 am front T5 on
3pm MH on
8pm MH off
9 or 10pm front T5 off (sorry I can't remember when it goes off at the moment)
11pm rear T5 off
My rear T5 is about 14-16" off the water surface
MH same as above
Front T5 about 4-5" from the surface

By the way I am still looking for a White Spaghetti Leather, or trachy of other colors other then green. So those would also be a trade of interest!

Dayum Girl, that Acan is one nasty SOB!. First it attacked some Button Polyps, now it's attacking a Sinularia.
I was happy to have one less Button Polyp and the Sinularia is no biggie either, as I have a few frags and another piece in the tank, but I'm afraid to put anything near it now.
I think it misses you and is rebeling against me!

Awwwwwww. It misses it's mommy.;( Probably doesn't like your feeding schedule. Remember I fed it atleast every other day. But seriously who knew!
I try to keep every one seperated unless they are of the same species. Especially after I saw what 1 of my wellsies did to my fiji yellow leather when it accidently fell in the middle of the night.
SO, where's the Pic....
PS Had I known it could kill button polyps I would have put it dead smack in the middle of the ones that are trying to take over my reef. Darn you Richie aka rstimeout.....lol
