Clam & Echinata 4 sale
Selling a 3.5" Blue Crocea Clam $50. I got from Sea Vision a while back. Reason for sale: I have 2 other crocea, one which is the same color.
Also selling this Echinata that I purchased from Richie aka rstimeout, reason is that it does not show the same color in my tank.
I am asking for what I paid, and nothing more.
I'm posting Richie's pic of the Echinata under his lights as well as my lights for comparison sake. Under his lights it shows green/blue/purple & yellow.
Please post here if interested. Thanks

No. Sorry. I sold mine to Zuska cause it got way to big for my tank, and he was not patient enough to wait for it to split again so that he could get a free one.
Now it split twice in his tank, and told me at the swap that he would give me the little one. But he put it up for sale. Not nice..
Any way, ask Zuska if he sold the two of them.
I did get another one from BC but it is way tinie, so I don't expect to have another one for a long while. But if you still don't have one by the time my tiny baby grows, and splits I will give it to you. No charge. It is a split off after all.

Hi Harry! The echinata is pending to Kathy, but she may not even get it.lol She gave me an idea, and I put it in my 20g to see what happens. So far the green in it is coming out, so when I check on it later who knows I may decide to keep it.
No big deal with the RBTA, I have a tiny baby which I know will grow. This one is just as good, may be even better. It stays in my tank even longer because it shouldn't out grow it that quickly. It's All Good.
Really more his loss then mine!

Kathy has dibs on the Echinata if I do decide to sell it. It was she who gave me the idea of trying it in my other tank. I think I may have annoyed her.
And it did color up, but I'm still not sure I'll keep it.
Oh, and to answer your previous question. I run XM 3-175 Watt 10K with 1 Super Actinic & 1 White Actinic VHO in my main tank. Not sure what I'm running in the 20 except that it is HQI 150 watts with moonlights.

I don't understand why you havee it posted then, you say you're not sure if it's for sale and if it is for sale, it's already spoken for. I'm confused.
It's the 10k that is killing your colors.

Let's see if I can clear this up!
I had decided to sell it because as already stated the coloring issue.
Kathy saw my post, and asked if she could try it in her tank to see if it would color up.
That gave me the idea of trying it in my other tank which has different lighting. Once in my smaller tank it did color up! But I am still not sure on keeping it because it just doesn't seem to fit well in the smaller tank.
Kathy had not decided to actually purchase the piece hence the reason why it is still posted.
I believe this is the norm. People leave an item on the open market until the piece is actually sold. Yes/NO?
Thanks Dave, I figure as much. These are my first experience with MH, and a good friend recommended these bulbs. [sigh]
They are in need of replacement as we type. I have been trying to decide on what I want to change them to.

Awilda sorry 4 hijacking your thread but I have to ask Dave this question?I too have a 10K.It's a 150 W mh 36"current fixture with two 96W 50/50 pc bulbs.I run the pc for an hour before the mh goes on.All bulbs are on for 6hours .The pc stay lit for an hour after. Could I change the 10K to 14K in the future and run them the same way or do dissaprove?
Thanks in advance
Harry

I don't see any problem at all, I was given a free bulb when I set my halide up and was told it was a 14k, It wound up being a 10k and I replaced it with a 14k. The color difference between the two was dramatic, I then swapped out the 96w PC actinic for for two 36w T5 actinics and the colors are even better. I did however notice less growth with the 14k. If you really want more color, swap the 50/50's for straight actinics, or better yet, toss the PC's and go for T5's.
Using just one of the 36w T5's out performed the one 96w PC with WAY less heat. The bulb replacement for my T5 is about a third of the PC also. This is an oddbal T5 setup though, I think if it was a normal 39w T5 the bulb replacement would be about the same.
I have only had the T5 for a few months and have not noticed this, but the PC's would lose a lot of output over the 6 month suggested lifespan. Time will tell if the T5's will do the same.
Wobbegong seems to be the resident expert on T5's, although I think he is a wee bit to biased on their use, he would be the man to ask about them if you decide to switch out the PC's
