I will try to post a pic, I think there is a barnacle living in the middle of one of the eyes, and it seems to be getting bigger and causing a discoloration. The whole piece seems to be losing it's color a little, but I just got it less than 2 months ago, so I'm not positive that the barnacle is the cause of it. I'd like to hear what you guys think.

What type of lighting do you have over the tank. I don't think it's the barnacle.

If it's a barnacle, you will see a fan shape like the palm fronds you see slaves fanning the kings in old egyption movie coming out and sweeping for food.

Do you have it directly under the light source? Try moving it to where it doesn't get such intense lighting. I keep mine in shadier spots, and they are doing fine....

looks like a barnacle opening. Defiantely not the cause.

agreed with all the above. Not sure what color it was orig , seems to be red . Ive notice that the redish corals like the sand bed away from the light BTW the coral doesnt look bad , do you have an orig pic when you 1st got it ?

It's a crab!!! YOu better dig it out before you lose the whole thing. My buddy's favia did the same thing and we found out it was a little tiny crab. Make sure first.

Roadking - how do I know if it is a crab? It looks exactly like other pics I've seen of barnacles, and psychographic's description (however odd it was) was actually dead on.

For the time being I moved it so that it is not directly under the halide, and with one rock giving it a tiny bit of shade. I'll let you guys know how it responds. Thanks for all the help!!

Here is an older pic when it was brighter and the eyes were more defined. (Only like a week or so ago)

I agree with the others, move it down to the sandbed and give it some shade...let it sit for a week or two and it should color back up...
