Help guys?
I have an Orange Zoanthid coral that I bought because it looked beautiful in the pet store. The owner introduced me to a concept that I did not realize needed to be done. Dipping zoanthids and corals to make sure pests and hitch hikers do not get introduced into tanks. Well so the guy was out of the "professional" stuff he sold so he told me to go get some hydrogen peroxide and throw a cap full of it in the bag with the zoanthid while I acclimated it. I did just that. I put them in the tank last Friday. They have still not opened up. The guy in the pet store that told me to do this said it was normal. Whats up with this guys is this something you do? The coral is starting to "shrivel" up so it seems and even in the 10k lights does not even make an attempt to open up any longer. My other Zoanthids are doing beautifully. I have 4 frags, this fourth frag being the orange ones. Any advice comments etc? I do not have a picture of the frag currently, but I assure you it looks like it is dying if not dead already!

Well the process of dipping with hydrogen peroxide is okay. The ratio should be 1:4, 1 being peroxide. The problem went wrong when you acclimated it with the peroxide. You should've acclimated the water to temps and then taken the lfs water and added peroxide in it in another container. Then dip the zoa frag for 10-20 seconds and then put the frag back in your tank. You only need to float zoanthids instead of dripping/pouring your water.

For how long do you FW RO dip them? I'd rather do something like that. Anyone else have any input on an effective process? There might be some life in them they opened up a tiny bit I relocated them in my tank. Not enough to get excited over though just a slight sign of life.

5 seconds take them out shake'em 5 seconds again shake once more and ur done so far so good. They're really hardy I don't think u did anything bad they close up like that every now and then. I wouldn't worry unless u see them shrinking.

YOu should look into getting a coral dip , tropic marin pro cure , seachem and you can also use lugos iodine as a dip. every corals should go thru a dip before entering your tank. peroxide i only used when the zoos were infected or had a fungus , and to be hoest all it did was stress them out more

I ordered up some of the SeaChem conditioner stuff. As was stated earlier I was concerned because the zoo's have shrank in size a quite a bit. They still open a tiny bit but very little at that. I have pretty much buried the hatchet on their survival. I'll keep an eye on em just incase.
