Mangrove filtration isn't an exact science. 1 adult mature mangrove would be larger than your living room, and would smash your tank to bits. Mangroves built the Great State of Florida, and they can handle your aquarium. The thing is you want to stunt them in an aquarium, so maybe 1 per gallon would work in in the beginning, (although I think that is a lot), but after a while you will have to start giving them away, or they will starve. Here is the guidelines I use, first number slow results, second number faster results:
(I am a heavy feeder)
10-20 gallon (5-7 small plants)
20-40 (7-12 small plants)
40-100 (10-20 plants)
100+ (25 plants)
You will have to remove some, but these will get your conditions perfect quick, and then you start whittling them down and giving them away, etc... A good mangrove can get you a coral frag from a friend.
