go ahead and take a filtration bag, like here
Aquarium Filtration & Filter Media: Drs. Foster & Smith Self-Fastening Media Bags then, you are going to take activated carbon from a fish store, preferably marineland black diamond, since it does not leach phosphates and such, and put it in the bag and rinse it thoroughly in RO water. you are going to put this bag in an area of high flow, preferably in your aquaclear, if i am remembering your filtration correctly. just leave the bag in there, and change it after two weeks. |

I don't run carbon but it is good for removing toxins in the event a coral releases them and other pollutants in the water. It does keep the water nice and clear. If I remember right in saltwater isn't carbon only supposed to be run in the tank like 4 days out of the month to prevent beneficial chemicals from being removed? I could be totally off.

If you really want to get the best possible reaction in your tank from using carbon, get yourself a carbon reactor...It has made a tremendous difference in the clarity of my water and I seem to be able to get a longer usage time out of it since it is in constant motion their is less area for bad nutrients to build up...

If your not running a reactor definately put your carbon in a very high flowing area. I had a bag of carbon sitting in the corner of my tank and i see all crud accumulating.
Keep in mind, running carbon constantly has been heavily debated so understand that here is a possibility that it will have adverse effects. But it definately helps water clarity. |

Since I have been using a reactor my water looks better. You can also purchase 2 reactors. YOu can run one reactor with activated carbon and then connect it to another reactor with GFO media. The GFO media will remove phosphates from your system and prevent all differnt types of algae. I know this sounds very confusing but it's actually really simple.
