Hi I am new to the hobby looking for help with my 12g nanocube tank. Will go into further details in the future.
Right now I have about a football sized piece of rock, some crushed shells, a few hermits, some snails, zoothids, moshrooms, a psudocromis, 2 clowns, a blue tank and a watcher gober. Tank has been set up about 3 weeks. |

Welcom BodyofH20!
Wow, thats a lot of livestock for such a small nano. Mine is 20g with 10 hermits, 10 turbo snails, 1 tile starfish, 2 percula clowns, and 2 yellow gobies. About 30lbs lr, 1.5" sand bed. RBTA (temporary until it gets to big), shrooms, zoas, green favia(small grape fruit size) frags of kenya tree, candy cane & pink tip frogspawn, will probably add more frags. But only 1 more fish a small one 4 Line wrasse. We don't like to use crushed coral for substrate, it tends to hold nasty stuff that it then releases back into your tank. That should sort of give you an idea for comparison to your 12g which is almost half the size of my 20g. Please give us some more details on your set up, as well as para. |

had to buy 2 new clowns today because the others dies, they are skinky clowns like the other were but they are smaller. they don't move around too much but they look nice. They seem very happy.

I use tester strips I just want fish but the rock has zoothids on it and moshrooms. The tank is set up for 3 weeks but it has water running in it with the rock for a week before I put in the fish and snails and crabs.

way to soon brother.since its such a small tank you need to do frequent water changes and get salifert test kits.those strips are worthless.you need to let your tank cycle.are u using ro/di water or tap..these fish are use to perfect ocean parameters and if u dont have it adding fish is worthless.do some research on this hobby and listen to everything everyone tells u here.most likely your ammonia levels are high as is your nitrites.please do not add anything else until yopu have reached these goals.enjoy this site it is a great way to learn this hobby

I use distilled water because my place is very small. And being on a fixed income I have to do a lot of saving to buying things. They told me when I bought the tank that setup with water and rocks would be easy and should be ready for rock cause the rock was curved. Whatever curved means.

you can get an ro/di that hooks up right to your sink for cheap.all you would need is a 5 gal bucket.before you add anything else in your setup save enough loot to buy the salifert tests.the ro/di.a good heater and a great skimmer.should run you around $300.keep the lights you have now till you start adding coral that need stronger lighting then i highly recommend better lights.and i believe the guy at the store said cured not curved.is the rock white or does it have color

well he read your suggestions and had some input. Nice guy. I think I am going to have him take care of the tank for now until I recover from the upcoming surgery on friday. Dr says they have to amputate my right arm to the elbow due to a bad staff infection.
