We join site like these for many reasons. Some join to get advice, others join to help others learn from their experiences but the most important reason some of us join is to share our success in our reefs by posting pictures.
And we all love to see these pictures, otherwise we wouldn't have smilies like these. I know first hand that sharing picture is difficult the first time you do it. Not only because you are wondering if others will approve or dis-approve but because sometimes it's hard to figure out how to link the photos. I'm going to show you guys two ways to host images. One is by using the reeferscafe's gallery and the other is by using photobucket. Photobucket is not your only choice but I find it to be the easiest and most straight forward free hosting site out there believe me I tried almost all of them. First we will discuss using the site's attachment feature.
Step 1 Click on create new thread. Scroll down to additional options. Click on "Manage Attachment". ![]() Step 2 This screen will popup. Make sure your popup blocker allows popups from reeferscafe. ![]() Step 4 Click on Browse. then locate the picture you want to post. When you located the picture down click on it or click on open. Repeat this step to add more than one picture. Once you have selected all the picture you want to post click on upload. Then when the upload is complete close this screen and finish creating your thread. ![]() |

This is the easier way to share photos. You have control of the picture and you don't use up the site's resources.
only follow steps 1 - 3 if you don't have a photobucket account. Step 1 Create and account. Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and click on "Join Now" ![]() Step 2 Create a userID and password. ![]() Step 3 Finalize account ![]() Step 4 Uploading pictures Click on Browse. A window is going to open and you need to locate the picture you want to share. When you locate it double ckick on the picture or select the picture and click on open Repeat this step to upload additional pictures or use the bulk uploader. ![]() ![]() Step 5 When all picture have been uploaded click on the last line (img) under the picture and copy it. ![]() Step 6 Paste the what you copy in the body of the new thread you are creating. ![]() ![]() If you want to share multiple pictures you can save yourself a few copy and paste by checking off all the pictures you want to share and clicking on "Generate HTML and IMG code". When photobucket is done generating the codes you have two choices. 1) You can copy links to thumbnails and the viewer has to click on the thumb nail to view a larger copy 2) You will copy regular size images. ![]() ![]() |

Check this out. A cheap solution for storage. I used to work for this company for almost 3 years and if you want to store images.. and have username and password prompt if you want to secure access to some of them. Up to 200mb worth.. and have a place to start your own site and have email etc etc this is a pretty good deal:
Web Hosting Provider of Small Business, Ecommerce and Personal, ASP Shared and Windows Dedicated Server Web Hosting 2.95 a month folks. For 200mb not too bad. Might have to spare yourself the monthly can of soup though. |

One more thing.. When you create your account over at PHOTOBUCKET, please change the default size of your photos from 1024 to 800x600. This makes it easier to view on the forums and it does not stretch out the entire screen when you post it. Usually these things are limited by the forums themselves ( ahem ) but not here. So please use 800x600
![]() Thank you..
