WARNING! - DO NOT use PROMERIS on your Pet!!!!
Quote:
A new topical Flea/Tick treatment is becoming more readily available through Veterinarians. This product is called Promeris and is being used on both Dogs and Cats.
If your Vet has recently started carrying this brand, or is about to, DO NOT purchase this product! In fact, urge your Vet not to purchase this product either.
After administering the treatment to my 4 Cats yesterday afternoon, I dealt with ALL FOUR OF THEM experiencing severe allergic reactions/side effects.
Basically, they were poisoned!
I gave them the treatment at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon yesterday. At 1:30 in the morning, I woke up to hearing violent thrashing in the living room. My Cat, Butters was having a seizure on the floor, resulting in him vomiting mucus/slime all over himself. Once recovering from the seizure, he continued to have horrible tremors there-after. His pupils were huge, he couldn't walk straight, and he was panting heavily. After bathing him and scrubbing off as much of the flea treatment as I could, I continued to monitor him for changes (as directed by my ER).
At 4:30 in the morning, my 2nd Cat, Edgar, had a violent seizure under the bed, also resulting in him vomiting on himself. After that, he experienced the same symptoms as Butters.
I then went searching for Thomas and Lolita, and they too were tremoring terribly, pupils wide, panting and unable to walk right. All 4 Cats were scrubbed down, and kept as cool as possible. I stayed awake all night watching them.
At 6:15 in the morning, Butters had a 2nd seizure, resulting in him pissing himself. At that point it was too late to take him to the ONE E.R. here, as they discharge at 6 - (gotta love bumfuck Ocala) so as soon as my Vet's office opened at 8, I lugged all 4 Cats in there.
They were treated for the tremors, checked over and sent home. By the time they were seen, most of the tremors were manageable. The only one who is still being monitored is Thomas, as he is still tremoring badly, and walking funny.
I have researched Promeris since coming home, and found a ton of horror stories and warnings from other consumers who have used this product on their Pet. It can cause a wide variety of symptoms in your Pets (mostly Dogs), and can vary from seizures/tremors, to vomiting, hallucinations, rashes, COMA and DEATH.
So if you happen to have this product on hand... Either return it, or trash it.
DO NOT poison your Pet!

THanks for the warnings that is scary If you get fleas on a pet you can use an oil of lavendar and a flea collar in the vacuum bag to kill them off this may take a while but it works We had a terrible infestation with our dog about 10 years ago and that is what we did and it worked in about 2 weeks or a bit longer
