No snake cowries unfortunately. Around here we have measled and deer cowries. They are good, but we haven't gotten any recently, if we get some of those I will let you know Bill. By the way, your package went out today.
As far as pics go, I was going to take them today with a friends camera, (maybe that will help my macro shots otherwise I am terrible), but that got delayed so it may take a while. They are slightly longer than the stocky cerith, but not as wide, and are only slightly better at cleaning. They are however, the best looking snail in the cerith family in my opinion. I will update you with a pm when I get that picture up.

Big snails will do that overnight no problem. The fighting conchs I have do the same thing, if not more. Not all cowries are good, but the deers and the measled are. But they are expensive, you get the most bang for your buck with dwarf ceriths. You get the most bang from your snail with the deer cowrie or the fighting conch. (Actually, the best is the queen conch, but it is not really suited for the aquarium). A fighting conch will out perform a snakehead cowrie.

john i seem to have a problem with some sort of algae dunno if its bryopsis i was told that it wasnt but the crap seems to grow in nooks and crannies i yank them out but it gets tiring i have a phosban i tried everything everyone says to try im to the point where i rather let the snails cowries or what ever get rid of it or just live off of it. i have ceriths turbos scarlets nothing is working what i did have was a sea hare and he seemed to start working on it but unfortunately for him he got sucked by my PH. yeah get a sponge and cover the PH blah blah blah i just want a snail or cowrie or whatever to do the job. what do u suggest?

What kind of Ceriths do you have? The stocky, (and larger) ones seem to be the most popular in the hobby, but it is the dwarf cerith that is the best at getting the source of the growth in those nooks and crannies, because of its small size. What kind of Ceriths do you have? Do they eat the larger stuff?
Also the Planaxis snail can get down into the really small holes it might come out from. Do you have a picture of the problem so I can identify?

No problem take your time. And let me know if the larger ceriths ever ate the stuff. Never been a fan of phosban stuff, but then again I have an army of snails at my disposal so I never really have algae problems. You may be best off with a planaxis and chiton combo. Chitons clean everything from a rock they make their home- amazing animals. Cowries are large, and are better suited for cleaning flat surfaces, and larger areas.

Yeah what is that algae? It looks like a fern or something. I have a bit of that on one of my frags of star polyps.

It does have somewhat of a caulerpa look to it. If it is caulerp it is unhealthy. Does it have a runner? (That is, does it have a root that the rest of the leaves grow up from) Or does each sprout grow up individually? If each sprout grows up individually, does it branch off, or is it a single "fern"? It is a good picture, but it is hard to see these characteristics. Sorry about all the questions, but I want to be sure of the identification. Also, do you know if the rock is from the Pacific or the Atlantic?
Your CUC is probably a little on the weak side. In a tank like that those snails and hermits could find plenty of food without being forced to eat that stuff. I would recommend adding 35-40 snails to keep all edible algae in your tank down for good. This appears to be an edible algae, as it does not look to be calcified, but we won't be sure until we get some more information.

Well when I yank them out I see no actual root. Looks like when I yank it they come out individually. As for the rock lmao who the hell knows. I've even tried putting kalkwasser paste over it and it worked as the crap died after a few days but they grew right back in the same spot. These things grow on my ph's on my over flow u name it. Where ever one ends up it grows there with many friends.
