Nope, don't get turbos. We have other snails that will do the trick though. What kind of tank do you have?

I have to tell you I am not a fan of crabs. They will all kill a snail during their lifetime, so they don't really reduce your clean up crew need. I also believe you have too many Nassarius snails. I would reccomend adding:

150 Dwarf Ceriths- safe from crabs because of their small shell, unless you have micro sized blue legs.
30 Nerites

This is probably the most economical package for you. If you would like more diversity get this package:

80 Dwarf Ceriths
20 Mixed Larger Ceriths (Florida, Fly Speckled and Stocky)- watch out crabs loves these shells
20 Nerites
25 Planaxis
10 Limpets
5 Chitons
30 Zig Zags

If you are interested in another conch let me know, and I will change up the numbers.

Try to trade in about 50 of the Nassarius snails, they don't eat algae only waste. I would also reccomend getting rid of half of the crabs if you can. Especially the scarlets. Let me know what you think, and when we have the package nailed down I can give you a quote if you are interested. Remind me to give you free priority shipping if I forget.

All the Best,
John Maloney

It is funny you made that saltwater joke. I always ask ebay cutomers if they have salt or fresh, despite the word "marine and saltwater" everywhere in the item description. I get more attempted purchases from the freshwater people than the saltwater people on that site. For some reason they think that if they slowly acclimate saltwater creatures to fresh they will be alright. WOW, it is nice to talk to the members here.

when i finally get my new refugium sump some of the nass snails will be going in there

so u recommend i get rid of all my crabs....that hurts these damn scarlets were pricey

will probably go with the 150 ceriths and 30 nerites

my glass and rocks get really dirty ...is this going to help?

i feed twice a day

I sent a pm. These will certainly push back the algae, diatoms and whatever else in your tank. I wouldn't get rid of all the crabs, see how they do with the ceriths first, I know they will attack the Nerites. Maybe crabs in the refugium would be a good idea. It is really up to you, but the CUC I quoted you would be weak if you got rid of all the crabs, as it was designed with them in mind. You can reduce crab killings by getting a lot of shells for them. It is not fool proof, but it helps.

Cas always keep a look out for those nerith snails. They're a warm water invertebrate that usually grazes in very shallow waters along the coast line. They have been known to frequently move out of the tank into kitchens, bedrooms, sinks, mouths, noses, etc etc. lol

I picked up two from behind my tank last night actually... little slime trails on the carpet leading to their bitter end

I've never had a Scarlet go after a snail as long as there were shells for them to go into once they outgrew the ones they were in. Bluelegs on the other hand were another story.

That reminds me, I need more shells.

Scarlets and the larger Nerites do not play well together. They also don't get along well with large Florida Ceriths either. If you only get small snails you may luck out. I don't trust any crabs. Blue legs are definitely snail killers. Keeping extra shells will almost certainly help, but crabs take shells when they see one they want, then they get it. Snail inside or no snail. I get repeat business all the time from crab owners for the wrong reasons.
