Hey bro...nice to see ya...oceanic is high on calcium but low on other trace elements...... and it's almost garentee, you will get an algea bloom when you switch over..... ggrin:

I was using Oceanic because I like the 200g buckets & the fact that it mixes so quickly & the high Ca but after reading this ^ I just ordered a bucket of IO from F&S with the -$5 code.

Tropic Marin users you may want to change your mind look at this!
http://www.aquariumwatertesting.com/...lysis_0208.pdf
I think the cheap coralife stuff is best based on this testing. I wonder about the Zeo Reefer's Best salt, they didn't test it.

Honestly, I never really saw a difference in any of my acros through the years just from changing salt. Besides different Cal, Alk, and Mag levels which are easily corrected, I saw no changes in my corals or overall reefs. I hear all this crap about metals building up. Do you know anyone with high metals in their reefs? Besides different calcification rates, what difference do you guys notice?
FYI, I haved use IO, RC, TM, Cl, TMP, RS, and Oceanic salt. Actually the only problem I had was from Oceanic. I test my bucket and it was high in phosphates. That crap demolished my reef for a few months.

I have used TM, IO, RC and Coralife. Coralife is what I use now.
I have'nt noticed a difference in any of them to be honest. I don't have a high tech set up with SPS either, so salt probably is'nt a big issue with me either.
I change 5g a week on a tank with a total water volume of about 45g.

Oceanic for past 3 years. Mixes super fast and high Ca doesn't bother me. I will eventually try Reef Crystals or Instant Ocean

IO for the past year. Prior to IO I used CL.
What is the problem with a high calcium, alkalinity, magnisium salt? Please!

Yes sir! Jprostata's pics are unreal! He's got zeovit dialed in just right for his tank! Do you think the salt he uses really makes a difference? Cause if it does I'm with you pnoy, seachem it is!
I'm using reef crystals now, made the switch from io.
