Default Do hermits eat pods?

Do hermit crabs eat pods? read somewhere that they do. i have a couple of hermits in my sump and now im wondering if thats a good idea

I guess if there is no other food source , they would. Other wise ive only witness them picking off the rocks and sifting thru the sand when i look in my tank. I cant say they do or dont , i never saw or read about . if you can post the read on here that would be cool.
