Coral mounting discs
Im looking into buying some mounting discs, but I think I saw something about "curing" them or having to keep them in water all the time. Anyone that can help me out with this or that might have other suggestions for propagation.

I use them al the time , never had to cure them , they are just too small to cause a problem,. unless u put 100lbs of it your tank. I thnik some come cured or precured , if you want to be on the safe side , But if you are only putting in a few , dont worry

what affect would it have on the tank if they are not cured? Im guessing that it would affect the pH right?

go buy a piece of live rock and break it into smaller pieces, then when you frag put the frag on the small piece or LRR. If it makes you feel better then put just a dab of glue on the disc and attach the LRR with the frag to the disc.
REASON: When people take the frag and put it into their tanks, it is a lot easier to glue a piece of LRR with a frag on it to the existing rock in their tanks, rather then trying to pry a frag out of glue on a disc and then once again gluing the frag itself to the rock in the tank.
If you want to be known for anything, be known to do it nicely for your friends and customers. Make the transfer easier for them once they get the coral home. This way you can be sure they did not kill the frag ( especially zoa's ) while prying it from the disc.
Just my opinion. I keep LRR in my closet and when I get a frag I use a piece of it to attach the frag to and then put it in my tank. Would rather only stress the coral once.

I like your reasoning. I too have started to use live rock wih frags after seeing an article in Reef hobbyist Magazine.I have glued a few frags onto rubble and then glued them to my existing rockwork. After a couple of weeks it looks like it was always there.More natural looking and if you ever need to move the coral you just simply twist gently and the frag comes loose.
