With the oils prices on the rise, solar power is something we all have to start considering. I cant remember where i saw it but there is a government grant to help with the cost of setting up solar panels for your home and business.

You would need a decent panel size to run anything other than some small powerheads. You'll need solar panels, batteries, control circuit/charger and inverter to get you started. Large (more efficient) panels are very expensive
Search ebay, there is plenty for sale there.

deep, i think that is a great idea to do, but if you really want to run your AC on it, try to do this on the rook of the buildung, so you can fit a large panel. anything running out of a window will struggle to run a powerhead, so buy big, and ask for a hookup to the central air.
INteresting fact, in miami, you can set up a solar panel, and actually sell power to Florida Power and Light. My school is doing this, and they are paying for their central air systems, as well as some crappy koi pond in the front. i know the ac runs off the solar panel, they have this heavy gauge wiring going to it, but i bet the pond isnt. you an distinctly see a power cord go into a mysterious area in the school, ask daffydanny. anyways, good luck! maybe set up some HQI over the panel XD |

We are getting solar panels for our house in Temecula, CA.
By law, when the power goes out either from a natural disaster or from a brown out or black out condition, your power will go out too, even with solar, unless you have battery back up. The batteries are what make solar power VERY expensive, and 95% of the systems here do not have back up. The easy and cheap solution is to get solar, and get a back up generator, seperate of the solar system. The CA rebate is going down every month or less, if you are thinking about it, do it now. Every month you wait, the price goes up by at least $800 if not way more, depending on the size of your system. |

Ronen, the panel is good for charging a battery so it means you need a recahrgable battery and probably a control logic to shut off the charging when the battery is full. How long and how many equipment you can drive becomes a function of the battery's capacity provided that you don't hae stormy days whole month. To usu eit independent of a rechargable battery is not practical.
