Kick Ich
Has anyone ever used this stuff? What chemicals actually work? Other than hypo salinity what have people found to be an effective method of getting rid of ich?

I have used kick ich before. Seemed safe on corals and inverts, (snails and zoas were fine), it saved my beloved sixline and a few damsels. I love this product. Deep is right about the chemicals, but I think they use something biological, nemastocysts or something like that. There is no copper in it. You should check on it though. The advanced aquarist magazine has an article on this product. They tested it on a variety of corals and bad effects.
But the real question is where are your parameters? If you have ammonia or nitrites than that is the problem, not the ich parasite- it is only a symptom. Try using a water change and some Prime, it is the best thing you can do now. Then consider Kick Ich.

My girlfriend used it, and it DID NOT work! I also tried it once, and again it did not work.
I prefer to use a hospital tank, and medicate with copper.

If you have a hospital tank that would definitely be the best way to go.

2 Hospital tanks + copper based ick meds + no light in tanks + daily water changes + UV Sterilizer to kill ick in certain stages switch between tanks every other day and drain one not being used. Oh, and up the heat to increase the ick stage.

The Ich came from a hippo tang I just got. I havent had Ich in my tanke or like 4 years now. A hospital tank is out of the questrion because I can't catch the fish and I won't break down the system. I can't do hypo because I have a reef. That's why I need to use some sort of medicine.

Bill you sound like a pro with dealing with Ich! That is why I had to use Kick Ich too, the fish were too quick and kept going between the rocks. I had a "cave tank" with over 100 small cave homes, and various hidden corridors. I didn't have a chance at getting to them either. How are your parameters?

The only fish I think may harm any of those is the blue throat trigger.

A friend of mine used it on 2 tanks one with no substrate Berlin style reef the other with live sand it worked like magic in Berlin tank but nothing in sand tank. He made the horrible "mistake" at buying at local chain type ich infested pet store . Thus he did it to himself
I think many reef safe ich treatments seem not to work all that great if at all with substrate ,

Have to REALLY inspect those pet store tanks before you buy your fish. Nasty little white specs annoy me and make me feel bad for the poor livestock. I wish chain stores would take the care of their animals more seriously rather then throwing a sku at a name and a profit margin. It really is best to have a medic tank folks. Some of us don't have much room but my next investment is a 30-45 gallon medic tank when I can afford it. My 10 is not going to cut it. Craigslist.org has lots of used ones.
