Have you ever lost a coral?
Not lost as died, but gone, missing, vanished into thin air, or should I say, water.
I'm looking at my tank today and notice something is missing. I had a small x-mas tree rock that is AWOL. It is/was about 3" in diameter and turning a bright green from the drab tannish brown color I originally got it as. I'm pretty mad at myself for losing it.
I reworked the aquascaping a few times in the past couple of weeks and remember moving the piece, but I can't find it anywhere. It's not in the fuge, rock holding tank or any buckets, where the hell could I have put it?

I thought it was on the left side of your tank.

From time to time a anaerobic bacteria called coraldisappearedectus can wreak havoc on your systems..It has the strange ability to turn your corals invisble making them impossible to locate when in reality they are just right in front of your face...
The most common solution for coraldisappearedectus is to individually bag up all your corals one at a time until you find it...Once you have located all of the corals in your tank the last one removed from the tank often is the Coral that was suffering from the bacteria infection but as all the other corals have been removed from the tank the ability of this bacteria to keep the coral affected hidden decreases thus making it unable to remain infected and thus be visible to you once again...

I found a rock covered with zoos I forgot about last night... it was wedged behind the back of my tank and a larger piece of rock. Powerhead probably hit it when I was doing maintenance at some point. My only suggestion is look at the possible trajectory path in which it may have fallen and go from there.

the only corals that have disappeared are mushrooms , they de-attach themselves and float off to never never land

I found a coral... or well a Gorgonian.... or well a Diodogorgia nodulifera, I lost it over a year ago. Found it under about 400 puonds of live rock in one of my 300 Gallon sumps. It has been gone so long I forgot even having it. From what I remember it being, I would say that it has grow about 4" and now has huge white polyps all over it. Which it did not before it went MIA, I guess it have plenty of food down in the abyss. I hope that it will continue do well now that it is one of my 180 gallon tanks... with low light and pretty low flow.

The reason I lost the piece in the first place is, I lost the Acan from the GB for the Swap. I tore the tank apart to find it, when I put the rocks back I rescaped the tank and then re-uned it about another 4 or 5 times. I distinctly remember each time putting this piece aside so it would'nt get damaged. I even moved some rocks around where I thought it might have fallen, but no luck.

I got a starfish that constantly knocks everything down. Anything not epoxied to the rock work ends up dissapearing sooner or latter.
