Default Is This Guy A Fraud???

Here is the email I got from a person wanting to buy my tank. I am going to play along, when he sends the check, Im gonna cash it and allow for three weeks before I send it out.

--
Hello,
I would like to know if you are still selling this item above.
Regards,
James.

Hello,
Thanks for the prompt response and i will love to make an instant purchase of both which is 1250$, so pls do withdraw both of the advert from Craigslist, i dont mind adding an extra $50 dolls for you to take the advert down from criagslist so that i can be rest assured that am in hand of the item. I will also like you to know that i will be paying via check, and it will be over night payment due to the distance. You dont need to bother yourself with the shippment ok, i will take care of that. So i will need you to provide me with the following information
to facilitate the mailing of the check.
1.Your full name
2.Your mailing address be it residential or postal address
3.Your Phone Number.
**Once again, I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping...i will have my mover come over as soon as you have cashed the check**
Have a nice day
James.

Very shady...I would stay away from the deal.

I hate craigslist but that's the only place Ronen can find dates.

Believe it or not these things are usually run by organized crime syndicates. So I always ask them for payment in women cause they usually dabble in that too.

Lol I got an email from some guy in another country with the same crap. He wanted me to work on 12 computers that he would ship to me with a check with a huge sum of money to do a simple job of installing anti-virus software and operating systems etc. I emailed him to see what his story was. Shady dude. He wanted to pay with a check as well. If it sounds too good to be true. It is usually.... *Block*

btw the check will clear and then a month later the bank will get an email or something like that the account was bogus. OR , he will use your name and info to steal you ID and make purchases.

Why in g-ds earth would someone have to mail you a check , cuz they live so far , yet have movers in YOUR area to pick up .

Wow because he used a check? I only use checks with craigslist people, because I want a record of the transaction should anything go wrong, and I can get my bank on him. Cash is no record, and paypal is useless when it comes to getting your money back. Although I would still be hesitant that it is a scam. Anybody that does business with that amount would want to call and talk to you, and let them know their address and such.

I don't know, I only buy from people I did research on, or can meet with personally at their house. But if he wants to send you a check, I don't see the problem. Could anybody explain it to me how Sulfur could get scammed if he waited for the funds to clear? What about asking the guy for a money order? This way he would have the protection of a record, (although no bank to go after you if you didn't come through), and you are sure it would clear. Better yet ask for a cashier's check. I would be more hesitant about the mover, and maybe he wants access to rob you. Ask which company the mover is from, etc...

Even if the account was fraudulent how would Sulfur get in trouble? Don't those crimes require knowledge? Is it overnight because he lives local and it will get there quickly? Is a $50 deposit really way over asking price? I am kind of lost here.

Well the check might clear, but it would possibly be a check that came from someone else's account and when they eventually find out that it was cashed at your bank then you owe the money back and you lost your product.

In this case I think it's going to be the scam where he sends to much money and you send it back to him not to mention getting your name and info.

I have got plenty of those , hey i want to buy you stuff , BUT i can only send a check and ill have someone pick it up. Its a scam. Most and i dont mean all ppl online that donthave pp or such , never send a check , Hence the check is in the mail again , not all are crooks , But all that come up with , i need you addy , cell and such are ,,
why didnt the guy send over his info right away with a cell for sulfur to contact him. If i was 100% interested in buying the stuff , ide give my cell to contact me asap , why wait for back and forth emails , JMO

I love paypal personally. I bought a 1000 dollar tv on ebay and got frauded and they refunded me the 500 I won the auction for within a month. Then I got to talk smack about the seller to a private investigator who paypal opened an investigation with to track the guy down. I totally trust paypal. I just hate their fees. If anything I get annoyed at is ebay policies. Some of them are worthless.
