I don't know how phosban reactors work but I put the media in a filter sock in my sump. the phosphate sponge (Kent) says to only keep it in flow for 24 -48 hours cause it will
release the phosphates back in your system. I suppose in a canister if you removed it
after the time period.
maybe someone knows more...

you can , but being that its in a closed canister you might not be able to get the correct flow , althou ppl do have them in a fluval , make sure you use a media bag and put the phosphate media on the top and carbon on the bottom. Flow should start at the bottom of the crabon and work its way up tp the phophate media jmo

it will work....just rinse it out often because detritus will accumulate no the filter bags...

i have one of those internal filters on my 10g sump running a sponge and gfo....and its helped me bring down my phosphates.
