50g is 2 small for a PBT you need at least a 110-120 if I'm not mistaken. He might look happy right now but give it a few weeks and he'll be swimming upside down. Nice tho

dude he's gonna get stressed out and get some kinda infection and die. You'll learn the hard way . When you loose your money. You need double that tank size and if its been a month you have about 2 more before you find him dead. No lie you need at least 100g and biggers better. If you can't get a setup that big trade him before he shows signs of stress.

The Powder Blue will not do well in that size tank and I agree - you will loose him. Try reading up on this tang. You will find that 99% of what you read will go against what you are doing. I left one percent out because there will always be someone who will try to keep this fish in an undersized tank. It's your fish and your money so it's your experience and lesson to learn. Good luck.

Very nice fishie you have there! And although I agree with all the advice being given here concerning the PBT to you. I will say this depending on the size of the PBT you currently have; If he happens to be in the small range(2" - 3") then yes he will be ok in your 55gl., but as he grows you will after upgrade to a larger tank or sell him to someone with a tank that can meet his needs. The minimum size tank is a 100gl 6' tank for all the smaller tangs with the exception of the Kole tang. There are some that require even larger tanks. Here is an excerpt from "Live Aquaria", please do the right thing by this fish.
Powder Blue Tang
(Acanthurus leucosternon)
Quick Stats
Minimum Tank Size: 100 gallons
Care Level: Moderate
Tank Conditions: 72-78°F; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4; dKH 8-12
Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 9"
Color Form: Blue, White, Yellow
Temperament: Semi-aggressive
Reef Compatible: Yes
Diet: Herbivore
Compatibility: View Chart
Origin: Maldives, Sri Lanka
Family: Acanthuridae
The Powder Blue Tang, also known as the Powder Blue Surgeonfish, has an oval body shape with extremely colorful, bold markings. It is prized for its vivid colors and bold markings, with several varying shades of blue accented by yellow and white. Bright yellow highlights the dorsal and pectoral fins, and striking blue-black markings outline the face and tail.
A 100 gallon or larger aquarium is necessary to provide plenty of swimming room. It is extremely aggressive towards other Tangs or Surgeonfish, especially those similar in form and color, and should be the only one in the tank except in very large systems: introduce all at once if more than one is to be maintained in the same aquarium.
Although Tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week. Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad and Ocean Nutrition are all ideal products and are very easy to use.
Approximate Purchase Size: Small: 2" to 3"; Medium: 3" to 4"; Large: 4" to 6"
I don't care if you have money to burn, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee care about his life. In the mean time by all means enjoy him.
