Default Setting up my 270gallon beast!

I'm in the process of acquire the pieces to my aquarium puzzle. In my 6' by 3' by 2' shark tank I will be running an Orbit lighting fixture, asm g-3 skimmer. Thats all I have for now that I'm certain about. I was woundering what the gallonage and dimensions of my wet/dry should be. I would like the wet/dry to hold my skimmer, bio balls, bubble trap, some live rock and a refugium section.
My livestock list will consists of two Coral Cat sharks and some fish yet to be determined.(alot of bioload)

Default Dimensions of sump

Yo danny, can we use a 48 x 18 x 13 Tall tank for the sump. i think that will fit under your stand.

oh, we need to get the tank form petco this weekend, they are having a cool sale. 50 gallon for around 60 bucks. we'll get the glass baffles over spring break.

Default Tank Design

Click the image to open in full size.

The size of the glass pieces will be:
11.5" x Width of Tank
11" x Width of Tank
12" x Width of Tank
10" x Width of Tank
10" x Width of Tank

This will give you a 19" area for a fuge and live rock filtration area, as well as a nice deep sand bed. I have quite a few sponges in the first inlet chamber for all that fish poo. The skimmer area of 14" leaves you about a 3" space for the ASM G3.

We'll build it this weekend, if you want. Everyone else, please comment if there are any additions to the design you want to give.

looks like your gonna have a micro bubble problem in the last chamber....consider another baffle in the last compartment allowing the bubbles to rise

saent, wht do you mean by the skimmer effect? if there are going to be filtering sponges in the first chamber, wouldn't that remove all of the suspended dirt particles, the skimmer would then remove the proteins and gunk. then we would have a bubble trap, leading to the biological and nutrient export chamber.

u are right about splitting the last baffle. i'll make it 5" and 6" glass panels, with a 2" gap

Best thing you can do is fit the biggest sump your stand can fit , that if you are putting in the stand. If you are putting outside the stand then , get the biggest one possible. It will make life much easier. say you want to add a piece of equipment in the future . then youll be able too with the space, JMO
