Hi all,

I am thinking of converting my freshwater planted to a reef tank, and I was wodnering if everyone can tell me the minimum cost it would take to get this tank going. I can get Live sand and live rock for free.

All depends if you are going to use expensive equipment or inexpensive. MH to PC or T5. Over flow box or drilling the tank. Skimmer etc..

t5 is better to go with..

If the tank is not drilled , I would suggest having it drilled in stead of an over flow box with a u tube . or have an overflow built where the drilled hole will be . skimmer and sump would be be according to what space you have to install the biggest one . (hight ,wigth and lenght )

My guess would be around at least $750. That would be lights, skimmer with pump, sump, return pump, plumbing, heater.
