You asked for it!
I bought a Quiet One 2200 pump and a Current USA 24" HQI/T5 combo fixture. Pics of these will come soon too.
Im gonna do what Psycho suggested and use two triangles in the front corners for extra support.
Materials for installed the overflow (black silicone and rubbing alcohol to clean the area)
Overflow done and ready to be installed
I had to round the bottom corners since the tank silicone was in the way.
Installed! I first put silicone on the overflow itself and once it was installed I put silicone on the outside and inside.
I leak tested it today (after 48hrs drying) and no leaks!
Up next: Customizing and painting this old 29G stand for my tank. Top was already taken off. Plan on redoing the front to make it look more modern.

Is there a reason you only plan to put gussets on the front corners? There is the same amount of pressure on the back wall as the front one.

Thanks guys! Im going slow but plan to have this going within a few weeks.
The overflow is holding that back pane pretty well so I figured I would just use those triangle supports for the front.

I would'nt trust silicone on PVC to have much structural strength myself, JMO.
As I said before, you might not even need any additional support, in fact having a tank come apart does'nt scare me as much as losing the contents should it ever happen, that is why I suggested the gussets, better safe than sorry and hindsight is always 20/20.

Update on the stand.
Removed the back wood that runs along to floor so i can fit the 10G tank.
Removed the two inner pieces of wood so I can easily take out the sump if needed. This pic is before I removed them. I also pushed the whole front of the stand to be even with the sides. If you look you can see that the front is pushed back a few inches in this picture. Now it sits flush with the sides.
This is where I am now. In this picture I didnt have the top wood installed but that is done also. (doors arent actually on so they look crooked)
Next up: Sanding, priming, and painting.

I bought a piece of acrylic and spray painted the back of it to use as my door inlays.
Heres a teaser pic of the doors finished. I still need to install the hinges and knobs.
Total money spent on redoing the stand is about $25. Not tooo bad.

Do you suggest using a padding under this tank? If so what kind?
Plumbing and sump is still getting figured out although im having trouble with it.

you can put a padding under it. get yourself 1/2 foam sheet from lowes or HD and cut to size.
Tank looks awesome btw...
WHy are you having an issue with the plumbing. Put the sump in the stand and snap a pic. lets us know what you want to run in there and we can help.

Every store I have been in wants me to buy a whole pack of that stuff.
Im doing a 10G sump with the return in the middle. Im wondering if I need a bubble trap with 3 baffles and if they need to be 1" apart. Oh and im thinking of doing the baffles 5-6 inches high. Is this cool?

WOW, that stand looks totally different. I love the new look!
Not to hijack your thread. What is the purpose of the padding under the tank?

padding under the tank helps to somewhat keep the stresses off the tank in the event the stand becomes unleveled over time.. Also, if a grain of sand were trapped between the glass and the stand it may crack the glass over time. With the styro there if any small particles are trapped they press into the styro and not into the glass. It also handles any small stand surface irregularities.

Thanks for the compliments Deep & Reefer! Oh, and Mynd pretty much explained it all.
Well Mynd supplied me with a piece of padding so that is out of the way. I will level the tank as much as I can and the padding should do the rest.
Now I just need my questions answered that I asked above ^

Question for you pros. Should I use 3/4 or 1/2 loc-lines coming out of my 3/4 inch bulkheads? I plan on using splitters too so it will end up being 4 flares in total.
