Default Which is a better pump??

Which is a better pump?? I was looking at the eheim 1260 and couple people told me to get the Blueline HD 40.. Anyone?

Is for a 30 gallon tank that's going connect it to the Current 1/10 Chiller..

Thanks

if you have room to put an external pump , go with the Pan World 40PX Magnetic Water Pump (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Water Pumps > External > 0-1000 GPH ) it use 20w less power then the eheim and you get more flow

but you must be able to put an external pump , meaning you will need a hole drilled in your sump a bulk head and some plumbing stuff , elbows ,valves ,union

As long as you have a place for the hose to run into and out of the tank the pump just needs to be connected to the chiller.. You are going to need to go to HD and get a 3/4 down to 1/2" barbed connector for the pump as I think the chiller is 1/2"? I could be wrong.. just make sure the hose input and output are the same on the pump as on the chiller and everything will hook up just fine..

BUT YOU MUST HAVE A PLACE for the hose to pull water from the tank and return it to the tank..

The Eheim is submersible, the Blueline is not.

Do you have a sump? If so, you could just drop the Eheim pump into your sump and plumb it from there. The Blueline can be plumbed into a sump without drilling it, but is more complicated to do.

If you are running sumpless the Blueline would be my choice, plumb it like any Closed loop and tie the chiller into it.

If you are running a chiller because of summer temps, I think it is foolish to use a chiller and pump heat into the room when you could run an AC unit to cool both the room and the tank.

If you want to keep it simple and not have to drill your sump or have to buy too many fittings just go with the Eheim. It cpmes with adapter for 3/4 or 5/8 tubing which is what your chiller wil have. Plumb the chiller inline with your return to the tank and your done. shouldnt take more than 10 min to do. The advantage of external pumps is that they run allot cooler than internal pumps. You are putting a chiller on a 30g I wouldn't worry at all.
