As to Verezzano, one of these days next winter I'll call you when it's really freeezing; you'll be amazed how clear everything looks. Great time to roam the promanade and DUMBO for some insanely sharp long exposures.

Anyhow back to the topic. Where is the larger pic of People Eater from above.

Now that you've borrowed "my" macro lens and top-down viewing box we should be seeing some crazy macros from you.

Top down macro shots, its like you need two people doing those. My lights are in the way and I need someone to hold them in a certain way and no way is my wife volunteering for this.

Man I tried to take top down shots last night. I think I will never master that skill. All them pictures came out out of focus. I give up.

Did you stop all the flow??? Are you using a tripod with its post extended and at 90 degrees?

You should get much better results if you get a "photo box" you can set your camera into that breaks the water surface so there is no glare and you don't have to shut off pumps.

I lent him a photo box but apparently there is more to it Snappy. I recently stopped all the power heads and pumps in my tank when applying Aiptasia-X and let me tell you what a difference it makes. Everything is crystal clear and the coral extensions are almost perectly still.

Recently saw a speaker at a local swap and he also recommends that all flow must be stopped for the duration of the shoot.

I really don't think anything drastic will happen if you stop the flow for 30 minutes or so. Things are perfectly still just waiting to be photographed and there are no streaks in the photographs caused by air bubbles and other particles zipping around. Nothing worse than motion blur.
