Default Need Purple Ricordea Help

I had a nice Purple Ricordea in my wife's nano cube, and the orange Ric did ok, but all the purple ended up dying.

I now have a new 100 gallon, with Xenia, some zoos, and a few other corals, including a new rock with a few purple ric on it, and they are looking bad too. Bottom line, I have no hylide lighting, should the ric be on the bottom of the tank, or higher up? It looks like they are releasing some brown gel, the symbiatic algae?

1st , Welcome aboard !!

How long did you have the purple ric for before it died ? also was there any other coral bothering where it could of stressed out and died >

I have a purple ric for almost 2 years now , no problems with it. althou i did have 1 or 2 rics just poof into the tank have no clue where. to be hoest , as long as the rest of the tank is doing good , it could be the ric was dying ?

My tank: two blue attinic lights, two 10K white lights, with an overflow filter, skimmer...

I have red mushrooms doing well, two types of Xenia doing great, christmas tree rock doing great, one small leather coral doing great, basically, everything doing well but the ricordea, and it is doing the same thing the last ones did in a totally different tank.

I really like them, and am bummin. The other ric on the rock seem to be ok, more of a rainbow type, but some purple in them.

Thanks for the welcome, and any info, the reef tank is a new thang for me, I am a Ball Python breeder by trade

It is Yuma, light purple, dark purple, with neon green mouth. I have moved it to the bottom of the tank, thinking it was getting too much light, but I am lost....

Since you said you bought this 2 weekends ago , i would not go crazy trying to find what went wrong with it. That is what happens to most of the yuma coming out of the wild these days , they just melt away for no reason in our tank.

OK, so where should it be in the tank, high, medium or low light area?

I just added a few fish, and they are all getting along, and really cool: Royal Gramma, Mystery Wrasse, Mimic Tang, the one with the orange stripes, blue tail, really cool, and Canary Wrasse.....A couple of Porcelin crabs too.

from experience id keep them low and just work them up and around where ever later on just so they can acclimate.

I have the rock on the bottom, leaned up against some live rock. I will try to get pics, but loading onto my new computer has proven to be a pain in the @ss. I think some are doing well, and others, I think they expelled their Zooanthae and are just wasting away. The rock had literally 30 ric on it, and now, about half of that

Psycho, I just read it, thought you meant post number 8 on this thread OK, they are at the bottom of my tank now, and will stay there until they all croak, or start doing better. About 8 look like they are doing fine, but they are the multicolored ones, still blue and purple, but not as purple as the ones that have died, or faded away. One came off completely, and I put it in a good spot, hoping it does ok, but doubt it. The one puzzling thing is, well, I need to get pics before I go into it.....Thnks for the help.
